Jerônimo  da Silva Lopes,Acrylic on 71.1cm x 96.5cm canvas, 2016

Jerônimo  da Silva Lopes, born on October 11, 1962, Queimadas-Paraíba,Brazil married, father of 3 children, artisan & plastic artist. As a child, he already played as an “artisan”, due to the fact that he had a very poor childhood, he himself created his toys out of clay or wood. During the period in which he was a student, he owned the best drawings & always achieved top marks in the Arts discipline. In 1983, he left his homeland, traveling to Rio de Janeiro taking with him the dream of becoming a renowned plastic artist, at first, he had to work for nine years as a hotelier, in general services, then without leaving his dream behind , joined a course in drawing and painting, at the same time, he was a usher at the Hotel, where he finally became a waiter. Over the years, satisfied with his art, but still a little shy, he began to exhibit his paintings at an Art Fair on the Copacabana sidewalk, so he had to divide his time. During the day he was at the hotel, at night he sold his paintings. After a few years, he managed to participate in his First Exhibition at Shopping  Cassino Atlântico , entitled “Painters of Brazil” taking second place, where he was awarded a medal & also sold all his paintings. Due to the proportions that all this took, he was then encouraged to participate in a gallery named “Jean Jacques” in the Urca neighborhood together with painters of known names such as Ivan Moraes & others for a period of five years where despite being doing very well, the owner died. He resumed his life, participated in an exhibition in Campina Grande at Teatro Severino Bezerra Cabral &, finally, he is now an exhibitor at Feira Hiper, located in Ipanema, where he joined as an artisan after competing in a contest, which was held by the City Hall of Rio de Janeiro , with eight hundred artisans  enrolled, competing for fifteen vacancies. Jerônimo Lopes ended up in seventh place in the overall position, where he still belongs, selling his paintings that are painted with acrylic or oil paint, plus the creation of wood sculptures. His paintings travel around the world, because they reach tourists from all over, which provided the artist with several international proposals, one of them being an invitation to Germany with the aim of promoting his work.
